The method I use to scan this white banknote greatly enhances the watermark.

However, it also accentuates any creases and marks that might have been.

The note appears better than it looks from the scan

Date:  1943 May 29

Branch:  London

Value:  £5.00

No.   C/368 58674

Signed: K. O. Peppiatt

Obv. ‘Rust’ mark down centre and a few spots both left & right side. Red no. ‘0742’ at top right.

Rev. ‘Rust’ mark down centre.

Grade:  The grade if one ignores the 'rust' marks is probably EF?  One must not confuse marks, graffiti, etc.

with the grade. The grade is the grade other problems effect the price - not the grade !

Price:  The 'rust' marks reduces the price down considerably but the war years are scarce.
