Date: The 1 is double struck & the 2nd 7 & the 6 are triple struck.
The 7 under-strike is slightly above (& below) and to the right.
* (Different to variety 7 over 7 as position of the doubled 7 is higher)
The 6 is over doubled or triple 6 - slightly higher and to the right.
A variety of this date (1776) lists a variety of 6 over 0 could this be a
mistaken reading of this 6 over 6. I would be very pleased if anyone can
shown me an example of this 6 over 0 variety !
