1773 Halfpence - unfortunate that it has an edge flaw on obverse at 4 - 5 o'clock and on the reverse this follows through to an incuse line 9mm long at 2 - 3 o'clock. Difficult to explain how it came about !?

Otherwise of fairly good workmanship with just a weakness around George's mouth.

Date: Large 3.

*This coin is a very good quality 'period counterfeit'.

On the obverse please note:

The portrait expression is wrong, George III appears to be casting his gaze slightly upwards.

The berries in the laurel wreath are enormous.

The hairlines are heavily cut, coarse and 'rope like'.

The bow in the ribbon is distinctly heart shape.

The counterfeiter has been very kind to the Monarch's jaw-line.

* All of the above comments are courtesy of David Gregory.

On the reverse please note:

The lettering in the legend is of a different style to the genuine lettering.

The face and expression of Britannia is different to the norm.

The berries and leaves in her right hand are also of a different style.

The lines on the union shield are very slightly different to norm.

There are several other minor differences to the genuine item !

* All of the reverse comments are my observations.
