1821 Crown - Edge: SECUNDO - Rev. WWP * (Inverted) reads as dMM Easy to tell from the normal WWP as the WW are at the beginning ! Grade: EF or + Bright WWP * William Wellesley Pole: Was Master of the Royal Mint from (1814-23). He was an elder brother of the Duke of Wellington.
The initials WWP are extremely read at the best of times. I have noticed that on the inverted issue that looks like JMM on my example, that the inverted initials are separated and below the broken lance whereas on the normal issue they virtually touch the base of the lance. If anyone has a clearer example of the normal WWP to replace my not very good example I would be pleased to hear from you.
