1910 Canada - 50 Cents. Choice unused with lovely toning. The Canadian 50 Cents series is one of the most popular, especially of the earlier issues, Victoria up George VI. The Victorian & Edwardian 50 Cents coins are extremely hard to in anything other than Fair to Fine. This 1910 50 Cents is certainly the finest example I have ever seen or had. It is also the scarcer of the two issue for this year as on the reverse it has the larger Victorian style leaves.
Plus what I am pleased about is that it is a raw - unslabbed coin ! (I totally dislike slabbed coins !!!). I like to be able to handle coins NOT lumps of plastic. This coin is at present housed in a protective capsule to mitigate any wear on the high points which means that it is fully protected but is easily accessible as it can be taken in and out of the capsule . However, that was then ! This is now ! Since then a collector, abroad, asked me for an "exact" grade of the coin and he also required that the coin to be authenticated to make sure that it was not a copy due to the price being asked. To help the collector the only way to achieve both grade and authenticity was to do what I hated most was to have the coin sent away and "slabbed". The coin has now been returned, after a period of time, and amazingly the collector has now lost interest in the coin: possible because the of the length of time it has taken to have it "Slabbed" or possibly he was hoping for the coin to come back either as MS64 or MS65. He was hoping to purchase at an MS62 price ! This is the coin now in its NGC holder. The coin has been graded by NGC as MS63. I would contest that grade, but I won't. I would suggest that the coin is at least MS63+ or could even be MS64. The other interesting information is that it is the finest example that NGC have ever graded. Check their population page. https://www.ngccoin.com/population-report/canada/ It is a beautiful coin and I am therefore in no hurry to sell. Price on request.
