The main differences in the Shilling obverses are with the E & R in EDWARDVS  

 

Shilling - Obv. 1 (1902 to 1906)

E -Top bar same length as bottom bar 

R - Tail curves slightly at bottom - close to D

Shilling - Obv. 2A (1903 to 1906) 

E - Top bar shorter than bottom bar

R - Shorter tail - gap to D

                        

Shilling - Obv. 2 (1904 - 1910)

E - Top bar (shorter as per Obv. 2a)

R - Tail similar to Obv. 1 but now 

extends slightly below base line
