1914 (B) - Reverse Type D (Ref: Davies)  [Very scarce]

I was not even sure if this reverse existed as I have only ever listed Reverse C & E

However, this coin did not quite fit either pattern exactly so with detailed examination I feel that

this is Davies reverse D. This is the first I have seen for years.

I have, in the past, mis-identified this coin !

I feel that it is very scarce.

 I have added these pointers as I don't feel that Davies's comments really help with identification.

The edge rim is THICKER than Reverse C.

The border TEETH are also THICKER than Reverse C

Therefore there is virtually NO gap between the teeth - virtually touch each other.

(For Reverse C the border teeth are slightly smaller and there is a GAP between the teeth)

The legend alignment to border teeth are the same for Reverse C & D.

The date alignment if the 1 & the 4 are the same for Reverse C & D

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is ONLY the THICKNESS of the border teeth and and the larger teeth that make
Reverse D differ from Reverse C
One needs an example of Reverse C to determine if you have Reverse D !
1914 (C) - Reverse Type E (Ref: Davies)  [Common - Normal]
This is by far the commonest of the 1914 reverses and this reverse continued to be used
through to 1924. There are many points that make this reverse different to Type C & D
as shown below.
