1776 4d - MAG

Repair to right leg of A

1776 4d - (HI)B · R(EX)

Some sort of letter has been punched under the

B of HIB and the top part of R of REX !

1776 4d. 'Defective' 6

The lower back of the 6 has worn away

and some cases look like a 5

1776 Maundy 4d - The A of MAG is over another A (again a repair !) - only the right leg shows below.

The B of HIB is over another letter but I cannot determine for sure what it might be - If anyone can come up with a plausible explanation I shall be pleased to hear from them. The R of REX has the same 'bit' in the top part of the letter as the top part of B !!? I have seen these repair errors on ALL 1776 4d's so far.

The 'defective' 6 as been offered by some people as a rare example of a 1775 Maundy 4d.

Do not be fooled - there is NO 1775 Maundy 4d.
