1849 Silver threepence
Rare as a currency coin (mintage 126.720)
Several re-punching of the date found.
ST 1849 A - No numerals double struck. Flat top 4. Solid, thicker 9.
ST 1849 B - 4 is over 4 (the under-strike well off to the left)
9 tilts forwards slightly on same base line as the 4 - no overstrike
ST 1849 C - 4 is over 4 (a bit shows below the foot of the 4 or could it be a 1 ?)
9 tilts forwards very slightly on the same base line as the 4
The spacing between the 4 & 9 is slightly wider apart - no overstrike.
ST 1849 D - 9 is over 9 (a very small bit shows just inside the 9 on the right side.
The 9 is just below the base line. The 8 is slightly double struck (top right)
ST 1849 E - The 4 appear on the scan to be very slightly overstruck - at top
The 9 appears to be double struck - just above the top and inside the tail.
But NO sign can really be seen to the naked eye !
The 9 is well below the base line which makes it striking different to the others.
The 8 is very slightly double struck - very slightly above and to the left.
ST 1849 F - The 4 has a point top ! (All the other 4's have a slightly flat top)
9 is over 9 (The understrike is below and on the base line)
ST 1849 G - 9 is over 9 but only a very small bit show below. 4 & 9 on base line
