1707 Shilling  After Union issue  Obv. The "E" below bust is very weak but it is there !

Rev. Plain* - ERROR: NO stops on reverse - A new variety NOT listed in ESC but now listed by the Spink as being Very Rare and, so far, only found in Fine grade.

This coin is only Fair on the obverse and only just Fair on the reverse.

* This is a different, earlier, style reverse, that has not been recorded previously. I therefore list it as reverse 1 and show reverse 2 (normal from 1707 to 1711) for comparison.

It is probable that the other known examples without stops on reverse are also of reverse type 1 and that this reverse can ONLY be found WITHOUT stops on reverse !?

*Reverse 1 (1707E)

Date: Slim, fine numerals

Reverse 2 (1707-1711)

Date: More solid numerals
