ST 1860 A - Obv. 1

ST 1860 A - Rev. A

ST 1860 Ac - Obv.1 (F: D: Type - Ac)  Very faint die cracks around some letters.

Evidence of heavy die clashing especially above Victoria's

head.  Weak hair - which is normal for obv. 1

Rev.  A strong ghosted image from the die clashing

                    Grade: Bright   EF+

* Davies, in his book, suggests that Obv. 1 for 1860 is 4 times rarer than coins

seen with Obv. 2. This seems at odds with listings on Ebay and on dealers

lists where 90% of listings appear to be with obv. 1. My own records of sales

  since 2000 show that I have sold 10 x obv. 1 and only 1 x obv. 2. At present I

have in stock 5 with obv. 1. 1 with obv. 2 and one with the legend of either

obv. 1E or 2 - Victoria's ear is unclear to determine which. I think that makes

obv. 2 the rarer obverse type for 1860 !
