ST 1861 A - Obv.1* (F: D: Type - A) A faint hairline scratch behind Victoria's eye. Rev. A choice strong single 'ghosted image of Victoria's head due to a die clash. The points that are clearly visible are numbered. 1. Victoria's forehead 2. Victoria's eye (strong single line for the front of eye) 3. Victoria's nose 4. Victoria's mouth 5. Victoria's chin 6. The curve of the back of Victoria's neck This is one of the clearest, sharpest, single ghosted image I have ever seen on the reverse of a silver coin. Date Medium to wide width 61 (Difficult to work out which !) Grade: Obv. EF? Pale steel grey tone. Rev. EF-EF+ Pale steel grey tone with a hint of blue * Obverse 1 was previously unrecorded by Davies and in approximately 10 years I have only been able to trace down 3 examples. Therefore to be considered RARE.
