* I have found only two examples for 1888 with this die in 20 years of looking.
I would therefore consider that this variety is much scarcer than ST 1888 B
which is a scarce date anyway !
A minor variation at the top of Victoria's cross (+) on top of her crown is listed as
ST 1888 B (Obv. 6) 1 dot at top of crown cross (+) & 1 line - either side of the cross (+)
[Listed by Davies as 1333 (Dies 2 + A)] Scarce.
