ST 1874 A - Slant-up tail 4 |
ST 1874 A - Date: The 4 has a slant-up tail - Easier example to find.
ST 1874 C - Date: The 4 has a T-bar tail - Less common.
ST 1874 D - Date: The 4 has a T-bar tail but the lower half of the T now has a
hair-thin line, possibly due to die wear. This fine line could eventually
eventually disappear all together. This 4 could NOT be a slant-up tail 4
with a die crack ! As the top part of the T-bar has all the characteristics
of the T-bar 4 and not of the rounded slant-up tail.
The 7 appears to be a slim version of the normal 7 - especially the leg !
