I hate slabbed coins.  One of the many reasons is that it is impossible to get a clear focused picture

    - using a scanner, as the coin is raised away from the outer plastic surround.

      This 1839 sixpence was slabbed by NGC and graded as AU58.

   Date:  All of the numerals are double struck.

 Grade: Obv. The coin does appear to have slight wear on the high points under a steel blue toning

              Probably I would grade as EF.

              Rev. The toning is slightly less blued. Probably also EF or slightly better.
