Reverse A - Has been used from die no.1 up to die no. 91 & again from 118 to 124.
There are 149 small, short border teeth. In many cases they blur into the border.
It has to be considered the commonest of the reverse for this date.
Reverse B - There are 113 large, wider border teeth.
Has been 1st found with die no. 92 and as die 91 used reverse A it is more than likely that
die no. 92 is the first example of this new die. Davies on page 65 lists that the max. die no.
for reverse B is die no. 96 but I have sold an example of this reverse with die no. 97 in the
past and an article on 1873 die numbered sixpences confirms that 98 is the highest recorded
die number with reverse B, so far. This makes reverse B a very rare die with only 6 chances
of getting any 1873 sixpence with reverse B - die no. 92; 93; 94; 96; 97 & 98.
Reverse C - There are 125 long, narrower border teeth (more than reverse B but less than reverse A)
The teeth are less rounded and slightly more (rounded) at the top.
The wreath leaves to the right side are now closer to the border teeth than for reverse A or B.
As die no. 107 to 113 have not been found, as yet, and die no. 115 as the next die no. seen
after 106. (Die number 114 was not been recorded by Spink in their new English Silver Coinage).
This is also considered a very rare reverse for 1873 with just 5 chances of obtaining this reverse.
1873 Reverse C has been recorded with only die no. 106; 114; 115; 116 & 117.
