GR 1841 Ab - Slabbed by NGC as MS63 Obv. As per what appears to be the normal - extra dots before the colon dots of F .: D .: Rev. Die crack as per on two other 1841 groats. As I cannot take the images of this slabbed coin I have added the images as per the other two example that I have. Die crack from edge 10 o'clock, splits in two. one part goes to the top left edge of the R. The other crack turns left and travels down to the top of the U of FOUR, along the top, and into the right side of the O at 2 o'clock. The die crack now appears to travel past the O at 10 o'clock and is half way towards the F of FOUR. There appears to be another die crack from the edge at 11 o'clock and is aiming for the top of Britannia's right shoulder. As this die crack does not appear on the other 2 example that I have with these die cracks, one can assume that this is a later striking. Date: Slightly taller pointed top 4 sticks up higher than the other numerals - with a T- type tail . Both numerals 41 have been double struck. The 41 are just below the baseline. There is a die crack from the border tooth just below the first 1 of the date, running up to the top centre of the 1, into the exergue line and onto the base of the shield at 5 o'clock. The last 1 is over a gap between two border teeth. Grade: Choice - Bright with a trace of toning pAS Sorry that the picture are so poor. I tried on the scanner - worse ! This is with a phone camera - rubbish ! I really hate coins that have been slabbed !!!!
