GR 1848 Bd - Rev. Type B The C of PENCE has part of the lower curve to tip broken off - leaving an open C. Die crack between 5 & 6 o'clock. Starts from the edge up into the bottom of the 8, at the right side exiting at the top centre of the 8 and just into the bottom of the fold to Britannia's gown Date: Type d 8 over 6. Large 4 - with a slant-up tail. Depending on the angle the date is scanned at one can see that on the left image of the date that the curled top of the 6 is clearly visible above the 8 - red arrows. Scanned at that angle the back of the 6 is not clear but on the other scan of the numeral 8, by itself, one can see clearly the back of the 6. The back of the 6 is below the height of the 8 thereby making the 8 the dominant numeral. One can see that 3 attempts were made in striking the 8. Grade: Bright EF
