GR 1849 Cc - Rev. C - The 1st E of PENCE is double struck. Date: Type c: The top of the 4 now appears to be pointed over a flat top 4. This I suggest is to possibly due to 4 being re-struck with a pointed top 4. One can see the trace of a 2nd centre bar just above the 1st centre bar. Possible a slightly small different font 4 was used !? The 4 has a slant-up tail. The 49 are similar in font size to Type b but on this example the 8 & 9 have all been double struck. The 9 is slightly narrower than the font used for Type b The 9 appears to be taller but this is due to the double strike. * All groats with Date: Type c have the 1st E of PENCE double struck (Type C) Grade: pAS Obv. Bright with a hint of tone. Rev. Tone around legend.
