Groat 1849 Af - Obv. Trace of ghosting of the reverse 'shield' - behind Victoria's neck.
Rev. Type A There is a good ghosted image of Victoria's head.
Trace of the top of her head, forehead, nose, mouth, lips and chin.
There are 4 die cracks
(1) 12 o'clock - From edge running through Britannia's helmet
(2) 2 o'clock - From edge running just in front of P of PENCE
(3) 4 o'clock - From edge running into back of E of PENCE
(4) 8 o'clock - From edge running into the side of the shield
Date: Type f - The top of the 4 is flat.
The 4 has a T-bar tail.
The horizontal bar is closer to the base of the numeral.
The 4 appears to be just above the baseline.
The 9 is slightly above the base line and tilts forwards slightly..
Grade: Bright with a hint of tone EF/EF+
