.                                     The C is now broken and has a piece missing from 4 - 5 o'clock.

1839 Date variations

GR 1839 - date type A   GR 1839 - Type A

GR 1839  - Date Type a  The 9 is of a fractionally larger font size to the other numerals.

All on the same base line but the top of the 9 is slightly taller.

GR 1839 - date type b    GR 1839 - Type b

GR 1839 - Date Type b  The top right part of the 9 has a slight doubling - which shows

at the inside right of the top circle.

In the lower part at 6 o'clock there appears to be something that

                                          resembles a full stop !?

The 3 has a slightly thinner look than that used for 1839 A

and appears to be just slightly below the base line.

GR 1839 - date Type c

GR 1839 - Type c

GR 1839  - Date Type c - The 9 is slightly smaller and narrower that the 9 used with type A & B.

The top inner circle is slightly more tall oblong !

On this example the 9 tilts forwards slightly.

The 3 as in type B is thinner than that in type A and also appears to

be just below the base line.

                       * This seems to be the commonest type.
